The Section for Archives of Literature and Art (SLA) played an important early role in International Council on Archives (ICA) as one of its subject-based sections, and then was relaunched in 2009 (see the articles in the ICA magazine FLASH number 18). The site that you are now visiting is the blog of SLA. The SLA also has an online presence on the official ICA website.

The purpose of the SLA is to communicate the cultural value and the magic of literary and artistic archives, and to create a worldwide network of literary archivists and users of literary archives.

The SLA will share information about the locations and the diverse nature of literary and artistic collections around the world, and will share best practice about cataloguing, storing, exhibiting and promoting these cultural archival treasures.
