In September 2015 ICA will be holding its Annual Conference in Reykjavík, Iceland. The Annual Conference is an excellent moment for members of the Section for Archives of Literature and Art to convene, particularly given that Reykjavík is one of UNESCO’s Cities of Literature.
The theme of the 2015 meeting is Archives: Evidence, Security and Civil Rights. SLA’s Steering Committee proposes presentations and discussions around the archives of dissident authors and other archives at risk. This focus builds off of SLA’s existing work to establish guidelines to protect the work of dissident writers and meaningfully connects with the theme of the 2015 meeting.
This meeting gives us an opportunity to build further momentum around existing initiatives, to contribute to conversations within the profession on evidence, security, and civil rights (and how literary archives are relevant within this context), and to enjoy Reykjavík as literary tourists.
